Talib Kweli lights up Newport College

Students jumped, screamed, and waved their hands when Talib Kweli showed up last week to give a special performance that was incorportated into the college-wide orientation.

Who knew it would be so well-received in Newport, of all places?

"I knew, " Richard Williamson, president of Newport College, acknowledges. "I knew because here at Newport College, our very first core value is diversity. Our diversity encompasses all facets of life, and music is a definite part of that. We hope to have more hip-hop music here in the future."
